Antenatal
Breastfeeding Classes
in Salisbury
You might have spent time preparing for birth — but feeding is what you’ll be doing every day afterwards.
These sessions are designed to help you feel confident, prepared, and clear on what to expect in those early days.
I offer 1:1 and small, private antenatal breastfeeding sessions in Salisbury, designed to give you calm, practical preparation — tailored to you and your baby.
Whether you want to avoid common challenges, feel more confident, or simply understand how feeding works, you’re in the right place.
What We Cover in Your Session
These sessions are designed to give you a clear, realistic understanding of how feeding works.
We can cover:
- How breastfeeding works (and why it can sometimes feel harder than expected)
- What your baby will do in the first hours and days after birth
- How to recognise when your baby is feeding well
- Positioning and latch — what really matters
- How to get off to a strong start in hospital and at home
- What’s normal — and when to seek support
- Expressing and storing milk
- How to protect your breastfeeding relationship in the early weeks
Every session is tailored — so we focus on what matters most to you.
A Valuable Addition to Traditional Antenatal Classes
Many parents I support have already attended (or are planning to attend) antenatal birth preparation classes.
These sessions are designed to complement that — with a specific focus on feeding, something you’ll be doing everyday.
While most antenatal classes cover feeding briefly, this session gives you the time to:
- Start your breastfeeding relationship feeling calm and supported
- Understand what’s normal (so you’re less likely to doubt yourself)
- Avoid common challenges that lead to early difficulties
- Make informed decisions if things don’t go to plan
- Ask questions specific to you and your baby
This isn’t about doing everything perfectly — it’s about feeling prepared enough to respond to your baby with confidence.
It works particularly well alongside group antenatal classes, giving you both a broad overview of birth and a clear, practical plan for feeding.

What Parents Say About These Antenatal Sessions
“My husband and I had a 1:1 antenatal breastfeeding session with Lisa in the comfort of our home, and it was fantastic. She was incredibly knowledgeable and easy to talk to, making the whole experience feel relaxed and engaging for both of us.
We learned so much — from latch and positioning to recognising our baby’s feeding cues — as well as how to handle common challenges in those early days.
The most valuable part was how personalised the session was. We were able to ask all our questions, and Lisa’s guidance really boosted our confidence in our ability to breastfeed and support each other.
It felt like a crucial part of our antenatal preparation, and we would highly recommend it to any expectant parents.”

About Me
I’m Lisa, a midwife and breastfeeding specialist. I support families through pregnancy and early parenthood.
Alongside my NHS and private work, I’ve supported many parents with feeding — from first feeds through to navigating challenges along the way.
I combine clinical knowledge with practical, real-world guidance, so you leave your session knowing what actually matters (and what doesn’t).
Prefer to Learn in Your Own Time?
If you’d prefer to prepare at your own pace, I also offer a comprehensive online breastfeeding course.
It covers many key topics, with video lessons you can revisit anytime.
Many parents use the course alongside a 1:1 session, so they can revisit everything afterwards.
What Happens After You Enquire?
When you get in touch, I’ll reply personally to answer any questions you have and understand what you’re looking for. From there, we can decide whether a 1:1 or small group session would suit you best and arrange a time that works for you.
There’s no pressure — just a straightforward, supportive conversation to help you feel confident about your next step.

Online sessions are also available.
These sessions are usually most helpful in the later stages of pregnancy, typically from around 32 weeks onwards.
This means we can include practical preparation, such as hand expressing, as well as giving you time to feel confident and clear on what to expect before your baby arrives.
That said, you’re very welcome to get in touch earlier in pregnancy to plan ahead and find a time that works for you.
These sessions are primarily focused on breastfeeding and how to get off to a confident start.
They can still be helpful if you’re unsure or considering combination feeding, as you’ll gain a clear understanding of how feeding works and what to expect in the early days.
However, they don’t cover the practical aspects of formula feeding in detail.
Yes — partners are encouraged to attend.
Having a supportive partner can make a real difference in the early days, and many parents find it helpful to learn together so they both feel confident and prepared.
Even if you have breastfed before, many parents find this course helpful in building a clearer understanding of how feeding works. Each feeding experience can be different, and the course can help you feel more confident with your next baby.
If you have specific concerns or would like more personalised support, a 1:1 session is usually the most helpful option.
This gives you the time and space to talk through your circumstances, ask questions, and feel fully prepared going into this next stage.
If you’re unsure, you’re very welcome to get in touch and we can decide what would suit you best.
