Breastfeeding Support in Putney
If feeding your baby feels difficult, confusing or painful, you are not alone.
Many feeding challenges can be resolved with small adjustments to positioning, a clearer understanding of how babies feed, or practical support to help you and your baby work together more comfortably.
As a midwife and breastfeeding specialist, I provide calm, practical feeding support for families in Putney and surrounding areas. During a home visit we take the time to understand what is happening with feeding and develop a clear plan to help you move forward with confidence. My approach combines clinical midwifery experience with practical, compassionate guidance to help families feel confident feeding their babies.
If you’re unsure what support might be most helpful, you’re very welcome to send me a message or arrange a short call. Messages are welcome at any time, even 3am! — I will reply as soon as I am able.
Sometimes parents simply need a little reassurance or a couple of pointers, and I’m always happy to help where I can. If more support is needed, we can then arrange a feeding consultation.
Breastfeeding Support - Home visit
If feeding your baby feels difficult, painful or overwhelming, a home visit can provide the time and support to help you understand what is happening and how to move forward with confidence.
I offer personalised feeding consultations either in the hospital or in the comfort of your home. During the consultation we will discuss your feeding goals and any concerns you may have. We will talk through your medical history, pregnancy and birth, as well as your baby’s feeding history to date.
I will observe you feeding your baby and offer information and guidance to support your feeding choices and goals, as well as the wellbeing of both you and your baby.
My aim is to help you and your key support partners feel confident feeding your baby and to offer you a toolkit of options to support your feeding journey.

Frequently Asked Questions
Most frequent questions and answers
When should I seek breastfeeding support?
Many feeding challenges can be resolved quickly when support is sought early. If feeding is painful, your baby is struggling to latch, or you are feeling unsure about how feeding is going, practical guidance can often make a significant difference.
Some parents also choose to learn about breastfeeding during pregnancy so they feel more prepared before their baby arrives. My online breastfeeding course provides clear guidance on how feeding works and what to expect in the early days.
Free support may also be available through local hospital infant feeding teams or community breastfeeding groups. However, some families prefer the time and continuity of personalised support in their own home.
How quickly can you visit?
Feeding challenges can feel urgent, particularly in the early days with a new baby, and I usually recommend seeking support as soon as possible. I aim to offer appointments quickly and will always try to help families promptly where I can. In many cases I am able to visit the same day or the following day.
If I am unable to visit straight away, I may suggest contacting another trusted infant feeding professional locally so that you can receive support as soon as possible. I can guide you towards a recommended practitioner or suggest suitable accredited bodies that you may wish to search.
You are always welcome to send me a message and we can discuss what is happening.
What happens during a feeding consultation?
Before the consultation you will receive a short questionnaire to complete so that I can understand your pregnancy, birth experience and any relevant medical history.
If there is time before the appointment, I may also ask you to keep a simple record of your baby’s feeds and nappies for a day or two. This can help us build a picture of how feeding is currently going.
During the visit we will talk through your baby’s feeding, your concerns and your goals. I will observe a feed where appropriate and offer practical guidance to support you and your baby with positioning, attachment and feeding patterns.
My aim is to help you understand what is happening with your baby’s feeding and to give you the confidence and tools to move forward in a way that feels right for your family.
Can you help if my baby is older?
It is never too late to ask for help with feeding. Although many families seek support in the early days after birth, feeding challenges can arise at any stage.
Some parents contact me when their baby is a few weeks or months old, particularly if feeding has become uncomfortable, their baby is unsettled during feeds, or they have concerns about milk supply or weight gain.
During a consultation we will explore what has been happening and work through practical options to support feeding in a way that feels manageable for you and your baby.
Do you only support breastfeeding?
Although, bbreastfeeding support is a large part of my work, I also provide guidance with expressing, bottle feeding and combination feeding.
My aim during a consultation is to help you understand how feeding works and to support you in meeting the feeding goals that feel right for your family.
What if I can’t afford a consultation?
I understand that private consultations are not accessible for every family. Free infant feeding support may be available through your local hospital infant feeding team, health visitors, or community breastfeeding groups.
I also have a number of free videos and resources available on my website which may provide some helpful guidance. If you are unsure where to start, you are very welcome to send me a message and I can point you towards some useful information.
If you would like more structured support, my online breastfeeding course is also available and can be used both during pregnancy and after your baby arrives.
