When Should I Start?

Wherever possible I recommend to families that they complete their breastfeeding education during their pregnancy. However, my online breastfeeding course is also suitable if you have recently given birth to your baby.

12 Months Access
Digitally Available via Thinkific Mobile App

Far too often i hear families say.....

In the UK 80% of women stop breastfeeding before they want to. How can we be failing 80% of  our breastfeeding parents?

The time for weaning your baby from your milk should be a joint decision between you and your baby. A time when you are both ready.

Join me, Lisa, a registered midwife, certified breastfeeding specialist and mother and let me support you on your journey feeding your baby.

I’ve created an online breastfeeding course that you can complete at a time and place that suits you.

FAQ

Most frequent questions and answers

The course consist of video lessons and written lessons for you to read. The course will take approximately 4 hours to complete.

I currently have two free preview lessons that you can access should you wish to sample the course prior to purchasing it. Currently the free video preview lessons are ‘Hand Expressing In Pregnancy’ and the ‘Koala Breastfeeding Position’. To access the free preview lessons you will need to create an account here

There is no better time to start your breastfeeding education than during your pregnancy. The early days of feeding your baby can have a significant impact on longer term milk supplies so its best to get things off to a good start.

I thoroughly encourage partners to participate in as much of the course as possible. The days immediately after birth can be a bit of a blur and if your support person has also understood the ins and outs of breastfeeding then they will be better able to support you.  If you would like access for your partner please email me at  partner@midwifelisa.com with a copy of your purchase receipt and I can provide you details for your partner to access the course without an additional charge.

This course is separated into video and written lessons – full course content

I will explain to you baby led breastfeeding positions and a variety of mother led breastfeeding positions. I will explain CHINS and how it can help you, why latch is so important, breast shaping, hunger cues, the frequency of feeds and the pattern of a feed.

In the written lessons I will cover how to tell if feeding is going well, newborn weight loss and gain, anatomy, milk production and milk ejection, milk volumes, cluster feeding, soothing techniques and the first 24 hours.

You’ll also be provided access to a number of useful downloads that I have created for you as easy to access reminders.

I’ll be adding more lessons over time to expand the course.  I’ll also be developing some of the text lessons into video lessons so you may find there are more video lessons for you.

If your baby is older than around 6 weeks then you may not receive all the value from the course but it may have some benefits if you are having some challenges. Alternatively you may wish to book an online video consultation with me where I can address any specific concerns that you have.

The course is hosted on a platform called Thinkific which you can access immediately after purchase from your smart phone or computer. The course can be completed at a time and location that is convenient to you. You have 12 months access to the course and can watch the videos and read the content as many times as you wish.

Yes!  Just the action of your reading this suggests that breastfeeding perhaps didn’t go as you had hoped last time or something has changed in your situation since you last breastfed. However, plenty of mums who already have children have taken the course and seen the benefits it can bring them. If you have a particular concern then please reach out to me on my contact form.

I wish I could say yes to this but unfortunately I cannot guarantee that breastfeeding will be problem free. You and your baby, or babies, are unique and there are many reasons why breastfeeding can be challenging. Completing this online breastfeeding course will however enable you to be best prepared for feeding your baby. If you do need more support I am happy to offer you a 50% discount on a virtual feeding consultation.

I understand that the cost of the course may not be affordable for everyone.   If you are struggling to pay for the course then please contact me on my form with a little detail regarding your situation and I will be happy to try to support you.

I have over a decade of experience working with families supporting them to feed their babies. With my knowledge, education and experience I have created a course that is evidence based and easy to access. However, if after accessing the course you don’t feel it is right for you then please email me (lisa@midwifelisa.com) with a copy of your receipt within 14 days of purchase and I will arrange a refund for you.

It is very helpful for me to understand why my course was not suitable for you therefore please can you include the reason that you would like a refund within your email.

If you live in the South West London area that I am able to offer you a face to face version of this course in your home or alternatively I can deliver this course to you privately by video call. See my Antenatal Breastfeeding Course page for prices and more information.

At present the course is offered with 12 months access.  If / when the time comes and you want to access my course again then please contact me with your original purchase information and I will renew your access to the course.

Whilst I very much hope some of the content in this course is familiar to you I believe this course will still be very beneficial to you. I have undertaken additional lactation specific education and study days to compliment my knowledge and understanding of breastfeeding, lactation and infant feeding. I am happy to facilitate a longer period of access for you as a health professional and can also provide you with a 4 hour completion certificate for your CPD requirements. Please contact me directly should you require this.  If you are a student and are unable to afford the course please do contact me from your academic email address with details of your circumstances and I will be happy to provide you with a discount code. The NMC requires you to demonstrate how the CPD relates to your practice and elements of the code. More information about CPD requirements for the NMC can be found online.
